Coffee Table Crate

Look what my kids brought me last weekend!

Some perfect junk!
It's an old chicken crate.
It's warped.
 And weathered.
And dirty.
(look at that stamp!)

And the bottom is missing.
But it looks perfect to me, and I love it!
The dog seems to like it.
(He didn't pee on it. Does that mean he likes it or he doesn't?)
And since no one else has said they hate it~it's my new coffee table!
I don't think I'll paint it. My first inclination is always to paint. Buy once I cleaned this up, I decided I like the weathered wood.
I think that all it needs is a coat of matte poly, some tiny casters, and a glass top and  we're in business.

Thanks for reading!

P.S. Something is up with the comments. Not all of them are showing up, but I am getting them in my email. I'm NOT deleting them, I promise.

Thanks for visiting -and- commenting on our little blog!

This crate is so wonderful! I need to have some children so they can go scavenge the neighborhood for great treasures like this!

I cannot wait to see what you do with it!

Oh, what great kids! I love it, I wouldn't paint it either. Love the weathered wood and it will make a terrific coffee table. You could even stand it on it's side as an end table if you want to switch it up.

I have always loved old chicken crates. My very best friend uses one and she has had it as a coffee table and then she used it as a place for her sterio. I have seen them on the walls. A very fun piece!

How sweet of your kids! That's a great find. I've been wanting to find a lobster or crab trap to do the same.

BTW, I'm having problems with comments too.

What wonderful kids you have! Yes, I agree to leave it weathered. Be sure and show us how it turns out. By the way, I've had a couple of problems today with my comments thing too. Wonder what's up?

What great kids you have got. They did really good. If they find another one, tell them to send it to TN.

Such a great thing for a coffee table.
