I Have A Junior Junker!

My youngest son!
 This is really his project.
Remember this table? It's supposed to be a desk for his room. He got tired of waiting for me to do something with it, so he stripped the paint off the top, and stained it. (The poly isn't even dry yet and I'm blogging about it.)
I'd like him to do something with the bottom, but he said he likes it the way it is. (he's a purist!) I think he should at least clean it~maybe sand the big paint chips off. He agreed to clean it. We're still talking about the sanding.
I was kind of proud of him when he said he wouldn't paint it. (I might have even teared up a little.) Just because I would doesn't mean he should, especially if he likes it the way it is. I'll just have him seal it. And definitely clean it.
Did you notice the cans?
I found the small one at an estate sale, and the larger one came from an antique store. They have the same graphics, but not the same name.
The big one is going to be a side table on the porch.
I think I need one more. 2 is just a pair, after all. But 3 is a collection!

Thanks for reading!

How sweet he is! I love when kids are interested in something, they say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
Enjoy your day!

Be still my heart! I love love love that he appreciates the junk. I love love love that he took the initiative to do it himself. And lastly, I love love love he doesn't want to sand it. (sorry, Suzanne). Maybe if he clean it with a brush just to take the loose flakes off. Flakes coming off all the time would be a pain.

I love that he did it himself! He did a great job. Clean and seal is the way to go for the bottom. Can he come to FL and do few projects for me? Does he like the beach? I'm going to go wake up my lazy son now. It's 2pm. What a bum!

oh that's wonderful that he's taking on projects, I can't wait for my boys to be old enough to have their own projects too. The table sure looks awesome so far.

Oh, I'm with your son. I love the chippiness of the table. I would probably just brush with my fingers to get the big flakes off and seal. How proud you must be of your junker offspring. My son just pokes a little fun at me. He likes some vintage things but more of a 60's-70's mix with modern (not me at all!)

I love that he did it himself! He takes after his mom! I have the same snowdrift tin it's somewhere in a box with the other tins that I don't have the heart to sell!

Suzanne you've taught him well. My girls are always looking out for wood pieces for me, especially at the beach. Guess it's in the genes!

A (paint) chip off the old block! Gotta love a kid like that. And I think you DO need one more of those cans...a mid sized one now~

LOVE IT! It's so cool that he made it his own:)
My 13-year-old was helping me prime walls and trim the other day for the first time...proud moment for me ;)
I love what your son did with his desk!
